Bob - The decision making guide

This is my app idea  for Nokia's Your Wish is My App contest.

Here's how I introduce it.

Stuck with too many options? Hard to decide which one to go with?
Ask Bob. He will help you. He decides; but not randomly.
He follows a scientific approach and gives you the best ever decision you can think of.

But you don't bother about the science and math behind it.
  1. Just tell him what your options are.
  2. He will give you a list of aspects/criteria on which you can assess the options.
  3. Tell him what weightage you give to each criteria on a scale of 1 to 10.
  4. Voila! He tells you which option is best for you.

Example-1
You want to buy a mobile within Rs.30000 budget.
There are 4 mobiles in this range (Phone1, Phone2, Phone3, Phone4) & you don't know which one to buy.
  • You tell Bob the names of mobile you are considering.
  • He will present you with a list of features - RAM, Internal Memory, Resolution etc., (Yes he has a database of all mobile names & their specs).
  • You give weightage to each feature based on your preference; say RAM - 5, Internal memory - 4, Resolution - 7 (Because you give most preference to Resolution, then to RAM & least preference to internal memory).
  • Bob tells you Phone3 is best according to your scenario

Example-2
You want to buy a two wheeler & you are considering 5 models.
  • You tell Bob the names of vehicles.
  • Yes, as you guessed he has the database of vehicle specs/features & presents you with it.
  • You give your magic weightage number to each feature.
  • And Bob tells absolutely which is the best vehicle for your requirement.
Similarly Bob has a huge database of
Mobiles, Vehicles, TVs, Washing Machines, Refrigerators... what not!

He doesn't sell you anything but he tells you aptly which one suites your situation.

Note:
  1. Bob here I'm referring to is the App that needs to be developed. Thanks to my friend Sandeep for giving the idea of personifying an App.
  2. Bob uses Decision Matrix method to decide.
  3. For Decision Matrix method he needs rating of each option for every aspect.. Eg: Rating of all phones for RAM, Resolution etc. Bob has a database of these ratings too.

Why I think my idea is good (as asked in contest):
Everyday people buy things & most of the time they are not sure which one to buy. This app helps them choose things in easy way and most importantly the confident way.
